Turns out the deck skips T4 pretty consistently, so the Skysovereign was so much better. Bomat Bazaar Barge: was nice on curve, like a fat Prophetic Prism that can swing. Turns out all that wasn't worth the trouble of playing the game down on cards. Also a nice sac-target for Colossus ability. Terrarion: I thought it would be useful to ramp out Colossus more consistently on T4. That's not too shabby, but it had to give room to Elder-Deep Fiend and an extra Skysovereign. Tested cards that didn't do well: Torrential Gearhulk: was mostly a flash 5/6. It is pretty absurd once it gets going though.Ĥx Sanctum of Ugin Sacrifice this land: Put a 10/10 colorless Construct artifact creature token onto the battlefield. It has felt a little bit win-more in testing. Luckily, artifacts don't care much for that.Ģx Paradoxical Outcome If something is being cut from the main deck, it's this card. Engulf is an extremely powerful card, but sees little play because it messes up the mana. Turns out it's pretty good against vehicles too since people drop creatures pre-combat to crew. When crew is on the stack, Engulf everything. It warped the mana base a bit with 4x Sunken Hollow, but that has never lead to any problems.Ĥx Engulf the Shore Mostly bounces everything except for vehicles and Colossus. The block clause sucks in a defensive deck like this one, but as it turns out it doesn't matter so much when he's sitting in a car. If you get one into rotation late game, you're set on drivers for the rest of the game. What happened was that I ran out of crew against removal heavy decks, and this solved the problem. Otherwise, tap them down on upkeep or tap down blockers.Ĥx Scrapheap Scrounger Baby you can drive my car. If you're anticipating a Declaration in Stone (healthy reaction to 3x 10/10), emerge off the target. This is the standard card that can fight back from being behind against a Gideon.ġx Elder Deep-Fiend So, when you're chaining Metalwork Colossus with Sanctum of Ugin, this is usually the end of the chain. T3 Lili into T4 Gideon against this on T4 is a pile of dead superfriends on T5. I was dead wrong, it's a 1-2 punch that kills all on curve walkers, and it is that which makes the card busted. At first, the 3 to planeswalkers didn't seem that relevant. I'd play 4 in a heartbeat if it wasn't legendary. It's funny how most mana rocks these days ETB tapped, but then the busted one doesn't.ģx Skysovereign, Consul Flagship I love this card. Watch out for that Declaration in Stone though.Ĥx Metalwork Colossus Verdurous Gearhulk is a chump.Ĥx Cultivators Caravan Big addition towards Colossus, ramps into Skysovereign, Consul Flagship. It possible to have 53 power on board T4. Example: T2 Puzzleknot or Prism, T3 Foundry Inspector, T4 any combination of Puzzleknot/Prism/Caravan, jam Metalwork Colossus, sac Sanctum of Ugin, jam some more. Every time you play an artifact spell, the discount stacks up. It's hard to have too many on the battlefield with the rebuy ability on Colossus and the card draw from Paradoxical Outcome.Ĥx Foundry Inspector This is the reason you'll put out Metalwork Colossus on T4. Prophetic Prism eases the mana constriction from Engulf the Shore, which is nice for the black abilities. Together with Foundry Inspector they'll net you 1 mana towards playing a Colossus. Blanks UW spirits beatdown for a while, blocks the 2/3s that defines the format.Ĥx Metalspinner's Puzzleknot and 4x Prophetic Prism The engine, the ramp. In the right deck, it's an impulse attached to a godlike blocker. It has been winning a lot against other decks on xmage (granted, people are mostly trying new things).Ĥx Glint-Nest Crane This is quietly one of the best cards of the set imo. It draws well with all cantrips on T2 and interacts well. The result is this deck, which consistently gets 20-30+ power on board turn 5 with plenty of cards still in hand. I wanted to try another angle, so I dropped all fluffy artifacts, added Colossus and Sanctum of Ugin and took it from there. at times it felt like you were doing something really busted. ![]() So I was really excited about playing Aetherflux Reservoir, but I quickly dropped it.
